Custom Hardwood Staircases
Heirloom-Grade Solid Hardwood Treads, Master Millwork & Custom Staining
A custom hardwood staircase is the architectural crown jewel of a luxury residence. Unlike generic builder-grade plywood covered in carpet, solid hardwood stairs bring organic warmth, refined tactile elegance, and timeless durability to your home's interior.
For over 45 years, master craftsman Allen Jukovic has custom-milled and installed solid hardwood stair systems across Palos Verdes Estates, Beverly Hills, and Newport Coast. We source only sustainably harvested, kiln-dried Select & Better hardwoods, precision-milling solid 1-inch to 4-inch thick treads, continuous curved handrails, and architectural skirt boards tailored to your exact flooring finish.
Hardwood Species & Craftsmanship Options

- American Black Walnut: Naturally rich, deep chocolate tones with flowing organic grain. Requires no synthetic stainsβa matte polyurethane or Rubio Monocoat finish highlights its heirloom depth.
- Hard Maple & Cherry: Ultra-smooth closed-grain hardwoods ideal for painted contemporary accents, custom fluted newels, or warm transitional settings.

Can you match my new stair treads to my engineered hardwood flooring? +
Yes. We specialize in custom stain blending. We take physical cut-offs of your hardwood flooring and formulate custom reactive stains and sealers to ensure a 100% seamless color and sheen match between your floors and stair treads.
How do you fix squeaky stair treads during a wood installation? +
Stair squeaks occur when loose rough sub-treads rub against stringers. During our renovation process, we expose the underlying rough stringers, shim and plane them dead level, screw-reinforce the framing into joists, and set all new hardwood treads with structural acoustic elastomeric adhesive.
How long do solid hardwood staircases last? +
A solid hardwood staircase built from 1-inch or thicker White Oak or Walnut is an heirloom asset that will last for generations. Unlike engineered veneers, solid treads can be sanded and refinished multiple times over decades of use.
