Full Glass Stair Package for a Huntington Beach New Build
About This Project
Almost every railing we install is retrofitted into a stair that was built without it in mind. On this Huntington Beach new build the general contractor brought us in during framing, which changes what is possible.
Because we were involved early, the stringers were built with our post locations already blocked, the landing edge was framed square rather than close enough, and the electrical was routed away from the base fixings before the drywall went on. None of that is visible in the finished stair — it just means the glass sits where it should, the reveals are even, and there was no chasing conduit out of a post location on install day.
What the Homeowner Needed
A complete glass stair and landing guard package coordinated into a new build programme rather than retrofitted at finish.
Challenges on Site
Coordinating with three other trades on a live site. Our post blocking had to be signed off before insulation, which meant our fabrication drawings were needed weeks before we would normally produce them.
How We Solved It
Early involvement at framing: post blocking, square landing edge, and services routed clear of fixings before close-up.
Project Highlights
- ✓ Specified at framing, not finish
- ✓ Blocking and services pre-coordinated
- ✓ Even reveals throughout
Common Questions
When should I involve a stair railing contractor in a new build?
At framing, before insulation and drywall. Post blocking, a square landing edge, and keeping electrical away from base fixings all cost nothing at that stage and are expensive or impossible to correct at finish.
Project Overview
Coming in during framing rather than at finish let us build the stair around the railing instead of the other way round.
Materials & Details
- Tempered Glass Panels
- Brushed Stainless Posts
- Engineered Oak Treads
Bringing them in early cost nothing and saved us two change orders later. Worth doing on every build.
